TBI Warrior® Foundation

Founded in 2018, TBI Warrior® Foundation proves to have a steadfast commitment to serving those affected by brain injuries and associated disabilities by providing meaningful, innovative, and evidence-informed programs. Our goal is to improve the quality of life of those we serve.  We believe that with adequate support, people with disabilities can succeed in their rehabilitation process and achieve community reintegration through work/career goals and personal goals. Today, we continue to support our beneficiaries and their families through our 3 core programs: Rehabilitation and Vocational Counseling, Access to Care, and Caregiver Support.  We aim to be the channel through which our beneficiaries achieve success and move forward beyond the effects and hardships of disabilities in their lives. We proudly serve the COMMUNITY AT LARGE: Veterans, non-veterans, children, and their families.

In 2022, we served a total of 830 individuals with an indirect impact of 2,215.

From our Beneficiaries

“Our experience at the last caregiver support meeting inspired my husband to be comfortable attending a community event - a firehouse open house. Despite the crowds and risk of loud noises and other headache triggers, he was able to walk with us the 2.5 miles total to attend the event and even talked to some firefighters and police officers there without my immediate presence. Our kids had a blast and I see his confidence growing daily. Y'all are awesome and we love TBI Warrior!”

“My son didn’t speak or make any sounds for years. I truly believe in the Lord who is All Mighty, I know the Lord led us to TBI Warrior Foundation. My son made big improvements. I am very proud of TBI Warrior Foundation for the efforts in assisting others- it’s just beautiful. May the Lord continue using you. Thank you very much!!”

“I want to thank TBI Warrior® Foundation for helping my son. Thanks to you my son is improving in school despite his disabilities. Thanks for making this happen and for treating us so well. You have a big heart.”

Inspired by personal experience

US Army Retired Sergeant First Class Victor L. Medina is a combat wounded veteran, Purple Heart Recipient. Serving three tours in Iraq and Afghanistan, Victor knew all too well the risks of serving his country, but despite this, he also understood the price of Freedom. On June 29, 2009 Victor’s life was forever transformed: he sustained a moderate traumatic brain injury (TBI) during a combat mission in Iraq. His wife, Dr. Roxana E. Delgado became Victor’s greatest advocate and caregiver. She stepped up to fulfill the vows she proclaimed on May 29, 2000, when they married. Roxana is what Victor describes as his better 95%. After years of rehabilitation in military and private healthcare facilities, Victor met new friends, veterans, and civilians who sustained brain injuries. It was his personal experiences and seeing the challenges faced by his peers during their rehabilitation, that inspired Victor to help others in similar situations. In 2014, Victor became a rehabilitation counselor to give back to others and continue to serve in meaningful ways. At the same time, Roxana became a pillar in the caregiver community, acknowledging the importance of caregivers as the backbone of the family and rehabilitation process. In their journey, they encountered the many challenges tragedy can bring to one’s life, but with faith, hard work, community/family support and resources, they thrive in their own journey and the quest to increase TBI education, awareness and policies

Today, TBI Warrior® Foundation is the result of sacrifice and love for our country and its citizens with brain injuries and their families. Whether active military, veteran, an individual or child in the community at large, TBI Warrior® Foundation is the organization that was founded to bring the community together to find solutions to meet the needs with Hope, Love and Selfless Service.

At TBI Warrior® Foundation we understand disability.
We are part of the community we serve.

Our programs

We are continuously adapting to the experiences, needs, and wants of the community.

Rehabilitation Counseling

Assists individuals with disabilities in identifying and requesting reasonable accommodations to re/integrate into education and/or the workforce. This includes skills training, resume writing, and provide assistive devices that promote independence.

Access to Care

Provides support to obtain medical care, facilitates access to programs and services to improve health, and promotes independence. We provide financial assistance to cover the cost of services that inhibit the person with a disability (i.e., co-pays, transportation, supplies), or the family caregiver to receive the medical care they need. We also sponsor activities that promote health and healing.

Caregiver Support

Tailored for family caregivers, provides support with home health for their care recipient so the caregiver can seek medical care or activities that promote self-care. We also provide virtual and in-person seminars and workshops to improve caregivers' ability to care for themselves and their care recipient.

WE ARE INSIDERS TO THE COMMUNITY WE SERVE. WE UNDERSTAND DISABILITY AND ITS CHALLENGES.
WE ARE PAVING THE PATH TO SUCCESS AND INDEPENDENCE!
